Women's Tennis Upset Hopes Slip to Griffins

Scranton, Pa. – Marywood University assured itself of a spot in the Atlantic East Conference women's tennis playoffs in spite of coming just short of an upset in a 5-4 loss to Gwynedd Mercy University on Wednesday. The Pacers (5-11, 1-2) stand tied for third with Neumann University with one match remaining.

Lyndsey Medric won both her singles and doubles matches. Medric ousted Andrew Hernandez 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 6 singles. She teamed with Brooke Panek to win No. 3 doubles by an 8-3 score.

In No. 2 singles, Nicole Sinclair came out on top with a win over Nicolette Diaz by scores of 6-1, 7-6 (2). Deena Haroun Mahdavi earned a No. 4 singles win by scores of 7-6 (4), 6-3.

Marywood travels to Neumann University on Saturday, April 27 to determine Atlantic East playoff seeding.
