Women's Tennis Fizzles Out in Semifinals

Philadelphia, Pa. – Marywood University women's tennis lost to Gwynedd University 5-0 in the Atlantic East Conference semifinals. Gwynedd advances to the finals to face Immaculata University on Saturday, May 4th.
 
In doubles, Emily Zarrilli and Devon Zombek faced Sydney Thompson and Nicolette Diaz for the Pacers. Zarrilli and Zombek started strong but ended up losing 8-5. Marywood's team of Brooke Panek and Lyndsey Medric fell to Jen Eisemann and Andrea Hernderson 8-5. Danielle Ogonowski and Nicole Sinclair lost their match 8-1.
 
Deena Haroun Mahdavi faced Jenna Trythall of Gwynedd. Mahdavi lost both sets 6-1. Zarrilli was shut out by Thompson 6-0 in both sets. Sinclair started strong in her singles match up against Diaz winning the first set 6-0 and was leading the second set 4-1 but did not finish their match. Ogonowski did not complete her match against Natalie Danze (6-0, 5-4), due to Gwynedd being five points ahead.
 
Women's tennis finishes their season 7-12 overall and 2-2 in the Atlantic East.
