Pacers Jumpstart Season by Downing Immaculata, Keystone

Chapman Lake, Pa. - Sophomore Katie Shea led a 19-woman field at the Atlantic East Conference Preview Meet Saturday in women's cross country. Marywood University defeated Immaculata University 21-34 in a dual meet that also featured runners from Keystone College.

Shea completed the 4K course in 16:56, more than a minute faster than she ran the same distance last year on the Lakeland High School course.

The Pacers had the top three finishers. Following Shea, Ashleigh Clarke took second in 17:09, nearly 90 seconds ahead of last year's 4K time. Freshman Alexandra Antonecchia ran third place in her first collegiate race, finishing in 18:18.

Senior Stephanie Juarez-Ventura came in sixth place in 19:08. The Pacers' scoring was rounded off by Sarah Lynch's 20-minute run for 11th place.

Keystone's Shyanne Bennett was fourth in 18:21. Immaculata's Celsey Golato was fifth with a time of 18:27.

Marywood heads to Misericordia University on Sept. 14.
