Late First Half Run Helps Wolverines Freeze Pacers

Adam Boussatta goes perfect 9 for 9 at free throw line

Wesley, Del. - A 20-point Wesley College run broke open a tied game late in the first half to down Marywood University Saturday in Atlantic East Conference men's basketball action. The Wolverines defeated the Pacers 97-72 to remain undefeated in conference play.

Over a five-minute span, the Wolverines turned a 31-31 tie to a 20-point halftime lead. During the run, Wesley made 77.7 percent of its attempts. Terrence Braxton kicked it off with a pair of free throws for the eighth lead change of the game. Brian Cameron sank a 3-pointer with 47 seconds left to end the streak at a 51-31 lead.

Adam Boussatta led Marywood (5-11, 0-3 Atlantic East) with 17 points. Boussatta went 9 for 9 from the charity stripe, extending his streak of made free throws to 14.

Anthony DeGori joined Boussatta in double digits with 15 points. Joey Monaghan scored 10 points in limited action.

Donovan Catchings had six assists.

Both teams combined for just 17 turnovers. Wesley outrebounded the Pacers by a 45-30 margin. The Wolverines made just a hair under half (49.3 percent) of their attempts to the Pacers' 39 percent. Both teams shined at the free throw with Wesley making 94.4 percent (17 of 18) attempts at the line.

Wesley's  Cameron produced 33 points and 14 rebounds. Mychal Stefanides and Brye Hopkins each provided 12 points. Braxton added 10.

Marywood is in search of its first Atlantic East win when it welcomes Cabrini University on Wednesday night at 8:00 pm.
