Game Recap: Baseball |

Washington College Sweeps Pacers

Fort Pierce, Fla. - Jake Schuster dominated offensively in game one but two big innings gave Washington College (Md.) a 10-7 win, and the Shoremen cruised to an 8-0 win in game two.  Washington improved to 10-4 on the year while Marywood slipped to 5-7.

Schuster was tremendous at the plate in the opener, going 3-for-4 with a double, homer and five RBI. But a pair of five-run innings from the Shoreman doomed Marywood in the loss. In the first, Schuster singled home a run. In the second, he doubled home two, and in the fifth he hit a two-run homer to put Marywood up 7-5.

But Washington College scored five runs in both the fourth and sixth innings to earn the victory.  TJ Lacey struck out three over the opening three innings but Marywood used five pitchers in the loss.  Antonio Ferraro was charged with the loss on the mound.

In game two, Marywood was out-hit 10-2. Anthony Navaro and Colin Maldonato managed the Pacers' hits.  Washington had a 2-0 lead when they used a grand slam in the fourth to break the game open. They would tack on runs in the fifth and sixth for the win.

With Marywood athletic activities suspended until April 14, the Pacers' next scheduled contest is tentatively a doubleheader against Wesley on April 18.
