Men's Soccer Season Ends in AEC First Round

Pacers fall to Neumann, 4-2

Aston, Pa. - The Marywood University men's soccer season came to a close Saturday afternoon as the Pacers fell in opening round Atlantic East playoff action 4-2 to Neumann University.

The third-seeded Knights (7-10-1) got two goals and an assist from Marlon Trejo to advance to Tuesday's semifinals where they will take on #2 Immaculata University at a time to be determined. Marywood closes their season at 2-11-2. 

Aram Aghababian and Troy Humphries scored for the Pacers in the loss. 

Aghababian put the Pacers up 1-0 just six minutes into the game as he scored unassisted. Trejo knotted things up for the hosts in the 31st minute, and the two teams would enter halftime tied.

In the 50th minute, Sam Clavijo scored his seventh goal of the year off a helper from Corey Madigan. Trejo then fed Jake Kuzmick in the 68th minute for the eventual game-winner, as Marywood made it a 3-2 game in the 82nd on an unassisted tally from Humphries.

Trejo iced the game in the 85th minute, burying a penalty kick for a two-goal Neumann lead (4-2).

Neumann out-shot Marywood 16-10 (10-7) on goal and had an 11-3 advantage in corner kicks. Alex Russo made six stops in the loss for Marywood while Seth Walker made five for Neumann.
