Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Stockton Advances, Blanks Marywood

Madison, N.J. - Stockton University scored two goals off corner kicks and added a third to advance in the ECAC tournament with a 3-0 win over Marywood University Saturday evening in women's soccer action.

The loss closes the Pacers' season at 13-5-1. The Ospreys (13-6-3), who were seeded second in the pod, advanced to the semifinals to face four-seed Rutgers-Newark, who advanced past host FDU-Florham 1-0 in the nightcap.

Stockton outshot Marywood 16-4 (8-2 on goal) for the game.

Marywood's Rebekah Becker made five saves, including a penalty stop in the first half.

In the ninth minute, Marywood was whistled for a foul just inside the box. Becker made a phenomenal diving stop to her right on Sydney Williams' penalty kick to keep the game scoreless.

In the 25th minute, Williams would exact some revenge as her corner kick found the head of teammate Jessica Heitmann to put the Ospreys up 1-0.

The score would remain that way until early in the second half, when Williams sent another beautifully played corner into the box that found Maddie Klein to help Stockton double their lead just under two minutes into the second half.

Susan Porambo iced the game for the Ospreys in the 60th minute with a strong individual effort, dribbling through several Marywood players before blasting a shot past Becker to the far post netting.

In the other pod, top-seed Alfred University was a 2-1 winner over Westmister (Pa.) and will face #3 William Paterson, a 3-0 winner over Mount Saint Mary College. The top two remaining teams after Sunday's semifinals will meet next weekend for the ECAC Championship.
