Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Marywood Outlasts King's in Overtime, 91-89

Scranton, Pa. - Marywood University men's basketball held off visiting King's College for a 91-89 win over the Monarchs Saturday afternoon. The win is the third straight for the Pacers, who improved to 5-4 on the year.

Brendan Franko had a team-high 19 points to lead four Marywood players in double figures. Trevor Seitz and Cole Johnson both had 18, while Mason Mendygral added 13. Corey Perkins had 10 assists help the Pacers' offense and Johnson added a game-high 12 boards for his first career double-double.

King's (4-4) got a game-high 21 from Carmine Castiello, 18 from Chris Patton and 15 from Eamonn Walsh.

After trailing much of the second half, Walsh hit one free throw for King's with four seconds left to tie the game at 81-81, but missed the second to push the game into overtime.

In the extra session, a bucket from Johnson and a three from Seitz highlighted an early 5-0 run for Marywood. After King's got back to within two, a Mendygral three extended the Pacers' lead back to five, 90-85, which proved to be enough.

Marywood shot 49.3% from the field for the game and nearly 43% from three-point range. Neither team shot well from the charity stripe, with Marywood connecting on just 50% of their free attempts and King's with 59.1% of theirs.

Marywood is back in action December 13 with a 6:00 pm game at Elizabethtown.
