Men's Track & Field Opens at Susquehanna

Selinsgrove, Pa. — Marywood University men's track and field opened its season at the Susquehanna Early Season Invite on Saturday. The Pacers recorded five times in their record books.

George Thompson had a pair of top-five finishes. Thompson was second in the 60 hurdles in 9.16 seconds. He finished in fifth place in the 60 dash in 7.49 seconds. His performance ranked third all-time at Marywood.

Ryan Benedict was the runner-up in the 400. Benedict ran a time of 54.92 seconds, ahead of third-place Michael Kelly with a PR. Benedict ran the fourth-best time in school history. He also cracked the record books in a fourth-place high jump of 5 feet, 6 inches.

The sprint medley relay established a school record in just under four minutes. Rasheed Sexius-Clerie, Nick Iacavo, Noah Zeigler and Kelly were third place in 3:59.33.

Sexius-Clerie came in seventh place in the triple jump. He recorded a distance of 36 feet, 9 3/4 inches (11.22m).

Thomas O'Keefe was fifth place in the mile with a run of 5:44.84.

Matt Custer debuted with a nine-place performance in the 60 dash, crossing the finish in 7.59 seconds.

In the throws, Ryan Mathews took seventh in the weight throw at a distance of 33 feet, 1 1/4 inches. Christian Figalora was ninth in the event at 27-4.5. Will Kalinich garnered a pair of 10th place throws in the shot put (9.94m) and weight (7.49m).

Marywood is idle until the new year.
