Baseball Falls to Cabrini in Twinbill

Scranton, Pa. - A seven-run seventh inning in game two was not enough for Marywood University baseball as the Pacers were swept by Cabrini University in a doubleheader Saturday afternoon in Scranton. The Cavaliers took game one 10-7 and game two 15-11.

Trailing 13-4 in the nightcap heading into the home half of the seventh, Marywood brought seven runs across the plate to make it a game. But Cabrini put away the Pacers with two runs in the eighth to claim the 15-11 victory. Jake Schuster hit a two-run homer in the seventh to extend his career long-ball program record. Schuster finished game two going 1-for-3 with three RBI. Scott Becker was 3-for-5 with two runs scored, while Michael Tempel and Shane Smith each had doubles in the loss.

In the opener, the Cavaliers built a 7-0 lead before Marywood (3-7, 0-6 AEC) got on the scoreboard. Becker had a triple and two RBI and Vinny D'Auria had two RBI as well off a sac fly. Morgan Theobald, Max Slusser and James Myers all had doubles for the Pacers.

Marywood is back in action Friday at Immaculata University. Atlantic East Conference protocols do not allow visiting fans to attend contests. Marywood fans can watch the game and follow live stats via links available on the baseball schedule page
