Softball Falls to Cabrini 6-1; Cavaliers Move On

Radnor, Pa. - Marywood University softball fell to Cabrini University 6-1 in the final day of "Pod" play to close the Pacers' season. Marywood finishes a shortened 2021 season with a 9-8 record.

The hosts used the long ball to grab a 2-0 lead in the first. An RBI single in the second followed by a two-run double to left exteneded the Cavaliers' lead to 5-0. In the sixth, another homer, this time a solo shot, put the host and number two seed up 6-0. 

Sam Baltrusaitis hit her league- and team-leading best seventh homer of the year in the sixth to get Marywood on the board, but it was not enough.

Marywood was held to four hits, with Mara Hamm picking up two of them as part of her 2-for-3 effort at the plate. Emily Rose added a double.

Hamm suffered the loss on the mound despite striking out two. 

Cabrini advances to take on top seed Wesley College next weekend for the 2021 Atlantic East Conference crown.
