Regionally Ranked F&M Overpowers Pacers

Scranton, Pa. - Franklin and Marshall College, ranked eighth in the region, overpowered Marywood University with three goals in each half en route to a 6-0 win over the Pacers Tuesday evening in Scranton. The Diplomats improve to 5-0 with the win while Marywood slipped to 2-2.

Sierra Brophy scored just :38 into the contest when Allison Francis stole the ball from a defender and found Brophy, who beat a charging Rebekah Becker for the game's first goal. Marywood almost knotted the game moments later butt Victoria Tzitzis' long range bender bounced off the upper 90 post and out of bounds.

In the 16th minute, the Diplomats doubled their lead. A high ball that was punched by Becker found the foot of Francis, who poked it home in front of a crowded goal area.

In the 35th, Bri Skidmore took a feed from Catie Kaseta to give the visitors a three-goal cushion at the half.

F&M added second half goals in the 61st and 79th minute before scoring as time expired after a failed clearance on a long throw-in.

Becker made two first half stops while Victoria Talarico made eight in the second frame for the Pacers, with each playing 45 minutes in goal. Brooke Longstreet had Marywood's lone shot on goal.

Marywood travels to Madison, New Jersey Saturday to take on FDU Florham at 1:00 pm.
