Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Pacers, Monarchs Settle for 1-1 Draw Under the Lights

Scranton, Pa. - After 110 minutes, the Marywood University and King's College men's soccer teams were unable to find a difference breaker in a 1-1 tie Wednesday in front of a lively home crowd that outlasted the rain-soaked conditions. The Pacers earned their first non-loss of the season.

Chris Valdes scored the Pacers' lone goal of the night in the 66th minute. After Aram Aghababian earned a direct kick from 25 yards out, Valdes delivered a shot that pinged off the Monarchs' defensive wall and into the back of the net for 1-0 advantage.

Marywood's Alex Russo made eight saves to collect the tie. Pat Hughes had four saves for King's.

King's (2-2-1) found an equalizer in the 73rd minute. Aziz Atiyeh played a ball from the left side. Liam McLoughlin drilled a shot from 16 yards out to even the score at 1-1.

Both teams traded off-target shots in the first overtime period. Aghababian had a direct kick just beyond the 18-yard line that was unable to find the goal. Russo made a save on King's Shalvey in the 103rd minute. Richards Fuchs had an attempt in the 107th that sailed high.

Marywood and King's played a balanced game. King's held a 7-5 edge in corner kicks. The Monarchs had a 17-12 advantage in shots and a 9-5 distinction in shots on target.

The Pacers play the third game in their six-game homestand with a Saturday night matchup against Arcadia University. First kick is set for 6 p.m.
