Volleyball Unable to Sneak Past Monarchs in 3-0 Loss

Scranton, Pa. – Marywood University dropped an eventful 3-0 match to King's College Wednesday in non-conference volleyball. The Pacers fell to the undefeated Monarchs by scores of 26-24, 25-21, 25-22.

Shannon Corr led the Pacers with 14 kills, nine digs and a .175 hitting percentage. Sara Burgos had team-highs in assists (30) and digs (10).

Rebecca Klemovitch recorded seven kills. Emily O'Brien had six kills and a block with a team-high .250 hitting percentage.

King's had 11 kills and two solo blocks from Danielle Kitchner with a .643 attack percentage. Karissa Hartzell and Toni Galasso provided 16 and 15 digs, respectively.

The Monarchs shot .188 to the Pacers' .144 mark. King's had notable advantages in digs (52-39) and blocks (5-1).

Marywood took the first set to extra points before King's prevailed. Trailing 23-21, O'Brien lofted a kill to cut down the score. After the Monarchs reached game point, O'Brien stuffed an Olivia Bunch shot at the net, followed by an unassisted Klemovitch kill to even the score at 24-24. King's prevailed with back-to-back points on a Bunch kill and an attack error.

The Pacers (2-3) dropped the first eight points in the second set. Marywood came back to cut the score to within two. King's finished the set on a Cleo Schultz kill.

Marywood returns to the hardwood floor on Thursday night when it hosts Cairn University.
