Men's Track Breaks 4x400 School Record at Wagner

Staten Island, N.Y. — Marywood University broke the 4x400 school record Friday at the Wagner Invitational held at the Ocean Breeze Complex. The Pacers were one of two Division III institutions, along with Johns Hopkins University, at the meet.

The 4x400 relay of Ryan Benedict, George Thompson, Michael Kelly and Noah Schock set a new school mark. The foursome finished in eighth place with a time of 3:34.52. They upended the previous record by 1.4 seconds.

Thompson ran the second-fastest 400 performance in school history. Thompson completed the race at 17th place in 52.44 seconds, a mere 23-hundredths of a second shy of the top spot in the record books.

Kelly recorded the third-quickest 500 time at Marywood. The senior mid-distance runner clocked in at 1:11.99 for 12th place.

In the 200 dash, Schock set a new personal record with the third-best time in Marywood history. Schock came in 19th place in 23.65 seconds, beating his PR by 13-hundredths of a second.

Benedict also sketched his name into the record book. He had the fifth-best individual run in the 60 hurdles, coming in 24th place in 9.88 seconds. Thompson was ahead of him in 9.37 seconds.

Outside of the relay team, three other Pacers authored Top 5 performances. Christian Scotti was the second Marywood to join the ranks in the 500; his 1:14.02 finish for 14th place was good for fifth in a Marywood singlet. Jack Baronski's awaited indoor debut delivered a 17th place run (9:04.21) that was the second-fastest time in the 3K. Thomas Lee was 27th in the 800, scoring the fourth-quickest performance (2:07.54) in the event.

CJ Figalora improved both his shot put and weight throw for PRs. He reached a distance of 32 feet, 11 1/4 inches (10.04m) in the shot put. His weight throw was an improvement of 1.28 meters with a distance of 31-6.75 (9.62m).

Scott Gartley notched a PR in the weight throw. He increased his best by more than 2 feet, reaching a distance of 25-8.25 (7.83m).

Marywood heads to Susquehanna University next weekend.
