Devils Displace Pacers in Five Sets

Madison, N.J. — Marywood University lost to Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham 3-2 in non-conference women's volleyball. The Pacers competed in their third five-set contest in their past four matches. 

FDU Florham won by scores of 25-22, 18-25, 19-25, 27-25, 15-5. 

Despite the score, Marywood had the advantage in kills (66-41), blocks (7-5), assists (61-37), digs (83-70) and hitting percentage (.202-.148). The Devils had a significant 18-7 advantage in aces. 

Casey Hagerstrom finished with 21 kills and a .486 attack percentage. She added six blocks for 25.5 points. 

Mikayla Meek broke a single-match sets record with 57 assists. She beat the previous standing record — Kelly Chadwick versus Swarthmore in 2013 — by four assists. Meek also had three block assists. 

Shannon Corr provided 14 kills and 14 digs. Libby Smith also had a double-double with career-highs of 12 kills and 19 digs. 

Sydney Steiner led the Pacers with 29 digs. Evangeline Kelly had nine digs. 

The Devils (9-9) received 12 kills from Jada Everett. Gabbie Hart and Charlotte Fruscione each had 10 kills. 

Marywood hits the road on Saturday for a tri-match against Eastern University and Neumann University in Aston.
