Marywood Set Back by Late Marymount Run

Scranton, Pa. — A 16-point run broke open a tied game that gave Marywood University an 82-69 loss to Marymount University Monday in Atlantic East Conference men's basketball action.
 
Brendan Franko led the Pacers with 18 points on 7 of 10 shooting. Matt McKenna scored 15 points to add to a team-best eight rebounds.
 
Brandon Reed helped Marywood engineer a first-half comeback with 12 points. Mason Mendygral had 10 points.
 
Corey Perkins finished with five assists.
 
Marymount shot 58 percent from the field, including a 64 percent rate during the second half. The Saints outscored the Pacers 25-11 on fast-break points and 18-6 in points off turnovers.
 
Marywood out-rebounded the Saints by a 33-28 margin.
 
The Pacers responded to a first-half high 11-point deficit with 12. unanswered. Perkins made a jumper in the paint to take a 27-26 lead with 4:47 left in the half.
 
Marymount had 16 points from Marcus Stubbs. Montell Cooper tallied 14 points. No Saint had more than five rebounds.
 
The Pacers head to Gwynedd Mercy on Wednesday.
