Men's Basketball Falls to Cabrini on Senior Day

Pacers will travel to Neumann Monday for AEC First Round action

Scranton, Pa. - Visiting Cabrini University outscored Marywood University 11-4 over the final 2:24 to secure a 86-79 win over the Pacers in the regular season finale for both teams Saturday afternoon.

Marywood (7-17, 2-10 AEC) will travel to #2 Neumann University Monday evening for first round playoff action. The Knights fell on the road to Marymount to split their regular season series and finished with identical conference records with the Saints, but lost the top seed on tiebreaking criteria. Cabrini locked up the #4 seed with the win.

Tied at 75-75, Cabrini's Milton Robinson hit a three to give the Cavaliers (9-15, 5-7 AEC) the lead for good. That was followed by six straight points from Aquil Stewart, the last four of which came on the line. A three pointer from Adam Boussatta threatened to give the Pacers life, but Marywood was forced to foul twice more where the Cavs iced the game at the charity stripe.

Cabrini placed five players in double figures, led by Stewart's 19. Corey Perkins had a game-high 20 points for Marywood, who also got 14 from Boussatta and 10 from Brendan Franko.

The Cavaliers shot nearly 50% (49.2) for the game while holding the Pacers to 37.9% shooting. Marywood's bench outscored their counterparts 42-17, but that was not enough.

Prior to the game, Marywood honored their senior class. Boussatta, Brendan Davies, Cole Ferguson, Jason Holman and Matt McKenna were all honored by Head Coach Enrico Mastroianni and his staff.  In addition, Joey Monaghan from the class of 2021 was honored.

Game time for Monday's first round game in Aston has not yet been announced.
