Allentown, Pa. — Senior Julianna Beidler hit a game-winning single to lead Marywood University to a victory in extra innings Thursday in non-conference softball action. The Pacers swept Cedar Crest College with a pair of one-run wins.

Marywood (16-6) defeated the Falcons 8-7 in the opener. The Pacers earned an 2-1 win in eight innings in the nightcap.

The Pacers extended their winning streak to five games. Four of the Pacers' five wins during the stretch have been in one-run decisions.

Marywood 2, Cedar Crest 1 (8 inn.)

Julianna Beidler hit a single up the middle to drive in the go-ahead run in a pitcher's duel.

With Brooke McKay placed at second base, catcher Annie Heyen advanced the runner to third with a bunt single to lead off the eighth inning.

Gianna Marsico left the tying runner stranded at third base. After a sacrifice bunt put a runner 60 feet from home plate, Marsico forced a line-drive to Becher at first base. She secured her seventh win of the season with a called strikeout.

Beidler finished 2 for 4 with an RBI. Emily Rose (West Scranton) was the only other Marywood hitter with a multi-hit game with two singles and a run scored. Annie Heyen reached three times on two walks and a single.

Marsico (7-4) allowed one earned run in eight innings. She gave up just five hits and struck out five.

After Cedar Crest jumped out to an early lead in the first inning, Marywood evened the score in the top of the third inning. Rose hit a one-out single to left field. Lindsey Jason (Mid Valley) doubled to left to score Rose. Ashdon Clark singled to right field but the Cedar Crest right fielder hit her cutoff to get Jason in time at the plate.

Game 1: Marywood 8, Cedar Crest 7

Marywood held off a late Cedar Crest rally in the bottom of the seventh. Trailing 8-2, Falcons scored five total runs in the sixth and seventh innings before Marywood put the breaks to close out the game.

The Falcons had the tying run on first base in the bottom of the seventh. Mara Hamm got Brianna Lankford to hit into a flyout to right fielder Abbey Stalter to finish the game.

Cait Becher batted 2 for 3 with four RBIs and a home run. She was responsible for the Pacers' first four runs of the game.

Kristie Epler finished with a double, run scored and two RBIs. Lindsey Jason went 2 for 4 with a run, stolen base and an RBI. Julianna Beidler had a pair of singles and a stolen base.

Mara Hamm notched her ninth win of the season. She allowed five earned runs on eight hits.

Becher put the Pacers on top in the fourth inning with a three-run home run to right center. Jason and Nina Kozar opened the inning with a single and a hit-batswoman.

After Cedar Crest plated two unearned runs in the fifth, Marywood fought back with a four-run sixth inning.

Kozar led off with a single up the middle, and pinch-runner Sarah Sharp advanced two bases on passed balls. Becher drove in Sharp on a single through the right side. Epler drove in pinch-runners Becca Zayle and Jessica Hanley with a double to left field to increase Marywood's lead to 6-2. Rose and Jason hit back-to-back RBI singles that found their way into left field to cap the Pacers' scoring.

Marywood will travel to Neumann University on Tuesday, April 19 with hopes of locking up a home playoff game.
