Thompson, Zeigler Win Races at Misericordia

Marywood finishes fourth out of 10 teams

Dallas Twp., Pa. — Marywood University's George Thompson and Noah Zeigler were event champions at the Misericordia Twilight Invitational. The Pacers finished in fourth place out of 10 teams.

Thompson won the 110 hurdles by smashing the school record with an 15.18-second finish. He dropped 64-hundredths of a second off his PR to set the mark. His AARTFC-qualifying time ranks 50th in the nation, second in the region, and first in the conference.

It was one of three Top 3 finishes for Thompson. He was second place in the 400 in a time of 51.89 seconds to take the No. 5 spot in the Marywood record books and rank No. 14 in the region. In the 200 dash, he placed third in 23.31 seconds for 44th in the Mid-Atlantic Region.

He was outdone by Noah Zeigler in the 200 dash. Zeigler won the race in 22.79 seconds. He ranks third at Marywood, first in the Atlantic East and 16th in the region. In the triple jump, Zeigler took seventh place with a jump of 37 feet, 11 1/2 inches (11.57m) to move him into fifth in the Marywood record book.

In the throws, Will Kalinich garnered seventh with a distance of 37 feet, 1/34 inches (11.32m). It increased his PR by more than 20 inches. He was also seventh in the javelin with a conference-best throw of 153 feet (46.63m), placing him fourth in Marywood school history and 24th in the region.

Ryan Mathews continued his torrid senior run of performances in the throwing put. Mathews was sixth in the discus with a throw of 111 feet, 5 inches (33.97m) for an improvement of nearly 12 feet on his PR. He outperformed his career-best hammer throw to earn eighth place, increasing his PR by 22 inches with a measurement of 111 feet, 9 inches (34.07m). He ranks 33th (hammer) and 45th (discus) in the region.

John Russo beat his 800 by a half-second to place seventh in the 800. His time of 2:02.95 ranks fifth at Marywood.

In the 10K, Caleb Bakalyar took second place overall with a run of 35:23. He ranks second in the Atlantic East and 40th in the Mid-Atlantic Region.

Other notable performances include:

Ryan Benedict ran a PR of 24.49 seconds in the 200 dash. He was seventh place in the 110 hurdles in 17.84 seconds, ranking fifth in the conference and 33rd in the region.
Travis Bahl earned a pair of PRs in the 200 and 400. He cut 41 hundredths of a second off his 200 time (26.46) and dropped 1.29 seconds off his 400 PR (58.81).
Jason Lee dropped more than three seconds off his PR in the 400, finishing under a minute in 59.36 seconds.
Adam Kanterman took sixth place in the 1,500 at 4:23.17. He ranks fifth in the Atlantic East.
Ian Kovatch also was sixth in the 10K. His time of 37:56 stands third in the AEC and 50th in the region.
Mariano Casciotti trailed in seventh in the 10K. His time of 38:06 is good for fourth in the AEC.
Ricky Stains III crossed the 10K finish in 41:09 for the fifth-best time in the AEC.

Marywood competes at Bucknell this weekend.
