Pacers Season Finishes with First Round Loss to Griffins

Zach Saneman leads the effort with a hat trick

Scranton, Pa. — Third-seeded Marywood University fell to No. 6 Gwynedd Mercy University 14-9 Saturday in the Atlantic East Conference men's lacrosse first round. The Pacers (11-5) finish their season one win short of the school record.

The Griffins went on a four-goal run in the second quarter to reclaim the lead that they would not give up the rest of the way.

Zach Saneman led the Pacers' scoring with a hat trick. John Scibello finished his record-breaking season with his 84th point, posting a goal and three assists

Dillon Kane had a goal and an assist.

Defensively, Seth Croll garnered three caused turnovers and four ground balls. Cam Hallett caused a pair of turnovers with four ground balls.

On the faceoff, Nick Ericson won 18 of 27 attempts. He had 13 ground balls.

Connor Reed made 13 saves. Chris Tobin appeared in goal for 2:22.

Despite the scoreline, Marywood outshot Gwynedd Mercy 53-37 but the Griffins edged them 27-26 on shot on goal. The Pacers had a 43-47 advantage in ground balls and won two-thirds of the faceoffs.
