Pacers Fall 9-7 to Immac in Atlantic East First Round

Kayla McCabe Joins 100 Point Club

Immaculata, Pa. — Marywood University's women's lacrosse season came to a close with a 9-7 loss to Immaculata University on Saturday in the Atlantic East Conference women's lacrosse first round. The fifth-seeded Pacers closed the gap to two goals but were unable to find the back of the net in the last nine minutes of regulation. 

Kayla McCabe joined the 100 Point Club with a goal and an assist. Needing just one to reach the mark, McCabe added three points to finish her career with 102 points. 

Alaina Brenneman had a hat trick. She had three ground balls, two caused turnovers, and two draw controls. 

Lauren Matarazzo was the only other player in double figures with a goal and an assist. She added three ground balls. 

Defensively, Taylor Barksdale and Emma Solomon produced four ground balls. Solomon picked up four draw controls. 

In net, Emily Dyminski stopped 13 Mighty Mac shots. 

Immaculata received a hat trick from Jackie Murray. Tessa Liberatoscioli fiished with four draws, three ground balls and two goals. 

Marywood (5-10) came back after the Mighty Macs stretched their lead to 5-1 at halftime. Out of the break, Matarazzo tallied a goal from McCabe just over two minutes into the second half that allowed McCabe to join the 100 Point Club. 

The Pacers and Mighty Macs traded goals throughout the second half with woman-up goals from McCabe and Brenneman in the last two minutes of the third quarter. 

Tori Wilson scored with 10:12 left to cut the deficit to 9-6. Olivia Stollsteimer got the best of a Kayla McCabe assist a minutes later that put the Pacers within two. 

Immaculata outshot the Pacers by a 32-19 margin. The Pacers committed 13 turnovers to the Macs' eight. Both teams finished with 18 ground ball and the Macs had a 12-8 edge in draws.
