Pacers Undone by Mighty Macs, 11-8

Kortney Harry nets a career-high with two goals

Scranton, Pa. — Marywood University brought a five-goal deficit to within one and could not find the equalizer in an 11-8 loss to Immaculata University on Wednesday in Atlantic East Conference women's lacrosse action. 

Trailing 7-2 late in the second quarter, the Pacers went on a four-goal run over a 10-minute stretch. Immaculata responded with three unanswered goals in the last 4:35 to create ample cushion for the last quarter of play. 

Marywood goalkeeper Emily Dyminski produced her second 20-save performance in as many games. She added two ground balls. 

Emma Solomon led the Pacers with four goals. She added six ground balls, four draw controls and three caused turnovers. 

Kortney Harry had a career-best two goals. Alaina Brenneman and Kayla McCabe each added two assists. 

Defensively, Kilie Wyers caused two turnovers and picked up two ground balls. Tori Wilson had a season-high four ground balls. 

Immaculata jumped out to a 7-2 lead in the early goings, limiting the Pacers to just a Solomon and Stollsteimer tally in the first 14 minutes of regulation. Tessa Liberatoscioli scored just 15 seconds after Jackie Murray's with 9:26 left in the first half. 

With 48 seconds remaining before halftime, Solomon connected on an FPS attempt to cut the deficit to 7-3 at the break. 

Marywood (3-6, 0-2 AEC) came out of the break with three straight goals in a 10-minute span. Harry put a McCabe feed into net at 12:34. Lauren Matarazzo went around the posts to deliever a McCabe goal two minutes later. Harry again scored on an Alaina Brenneman attempt with 5:46 left in the third period. 

The Mighty Macs stepped up in the last five minutes of the third. Immaculata had a woman-down goal at the buzzer. Following a timeout, Liberatoscioli dodged four defenders and delievered a pass to Liza Laxton to put their team ahead by a 10-7 score. 

Marywood scored on eight of its 13 shots on goal. Despite only a three-goal difference, Immaculata outshot the Pacers by a 40-15 margin. The Mightys Macs had a 20-18 edge in ground balls but won a 16-6 favor in draws. 

The Pacers are idle this wekend and will hosts Cabrini University on Tuesday, April 12.
