Zeigler Explodes for Pair of Firsts at King's

George Thompson claims fastest 110 hurdles time

Wilkes-Barre Twp., Pa. — Freshman Noah Zeigler swept the sprints events at Marywood University men's track and field meet at King's College this weekend. It was the Pacers' finale regular season meet before the postseason begins next weekend.

Zeigler raced to first-place finishes in both the 100 and 200 dashes. In the 100 dash, he won the finals race in a wind-assisted time of 10.85 seconds. While above the threshold for records, his time was legal to rank first in the Atlantic East and seventh in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Marywood took the top two places in the 200 dash. Zeigler won the race in 22.64 seconds, good for second in the AEC and 18th in the Mid-Atlantic Region. He was pursued by teammate George Thompson in 22.74 seconds. Thompson's mark tied for third place in the Marywood record books, fourth in the AEC and 23rd in the region.

Thompson delivered a first place finish in the 110 hurdles in 15.41 seconds. Zeigler claimed third in the triple jump at a distance of 37 feet, 1 1/4 inches (11.31m).

Michael Kelly continued his good form with a third place run in the 400. Kelly dropped two-tenths off his PR to clock in at 52.25 seconds. He ranks fourth in the Atlantic East and 42nd in the region.

Ryan Benedict cleared 6 feet, 1 1/2 inches (1.87m) for third place in the high jump. His height notched him into third in Marywood history, first in the AEC performance list and 10th on the regional ranks. Benedict earned fourth place in the 110 hurdles in 16.8 seconds. He secured the No. 4 spot in the Marywood record books, as well as the fifth-best AEC time and 31st-best region mark.

In the throwing pit, Ryan Mathews was fourth place in the discus, measuring at 117 feet, 9 inches (35.9m). Mathews' distance put him into fourth all-time at Marywood, second in the conference, and 46th in the region. He also came in eighth place in the javelin (125-7) for the Atlantic East's second-best mark, just behind teammate Will Kalinish, who finished in sixth place.

Other notable performances for the Pacers included:

John Russo dropped more than nine-tenths of a second to take eighth in the 400 in 53.67 seconds.
Jason Lee had a pair of PRs. He skimmed eight-hundredths of a second off his 100 dash time to finish in 12.52 seconds. Lee took four-tenths off of his 400 mark to clock in 58.97 seconds.
Travis Bahl also secured a pair of PRs. He ran 27-hundredths of a second better than his 100 dash to cross the finish line in 12.91 seconds. Bahl ran four-tenths better than his 400 in a time of 58.41 seconds.
Rasheed Sexius-Clerie PR'd in the long jump by more than 3 feet. Sexius-Clerie was fifth place with a leap of 18 feet, 10 3/4 inches (5.76m).
Scott Gartley ranked third in the Atlantic East with a PR in the javelin throw of 119 feet, 9 inches (36.51m). He beat his previous best by 16 feet. Gartley was also fifth place in the shot put.
