Pacers Tie School Record with 22nd Win, Split Doubleheader with First-Place Immac

Max Slusser hit a grand slam in the nightcap

Immaculata, Pa. — Marywood University tied a school record with its 22nd victory of the baseball season. The Pacers split a doubleheader — both 10-2 results —with first-place Immaculata University on Monday in Atlantic East Conference regular season finale.
 
The Pacers' 22nd win matches the 2012 single-season school record.
 
Game 2: Marywood 10, Immaculata 2
 
Max Slusser hit a grand slam as part of a five-RBI performance. Slusser went 2 for 3 with two runs, two walks and a double.
 
Jake Schuster also reached four times. Schuster batted 2 for 4 with two runs and three RBIs.
 
The Pacers hit safely 12 times and drew 10 walks.
 
Vinny D'Auria scored three times. Morgan Theobald reached base three times with two walks and a triple.
 
Michael Aronica picked up the win with seven strikeouts in six innings. Aronica yielded four hits and allowed just one earned run.
 
Marywood jumped out to an early lead with four total runs in the first four innings. Slusser doubled down the left field line to score D'Auria in the first inning. Michael Tempel doubled the Pacers' lead to 2-0 with an RBI groundout. Kyle Morin drove in Slusser in the third inning to score Slusser. Schuster added an RBI single in the fourth inning.
 
The Pacers' offense teed off against the Mighty Macs' bullpen with five runs in the fifth inning. Marywood did all of its damage with two outs. The first four batters to reach came via bases on balls. Schuster drew a bases-loaded walk to bring in the first run of the inning. Slusser cleared the bases with a grand slam to give Marywood a 9-1 lead.
 
Antonio Ferraro and Matthew Klipple pitched scoreless innings of relief. Ferraro pitched a perfect seventh inning.

The Mighty Macs scored six runs in the bottom of the first inning.
 
Matthew Ortiz had the lone RBI of the game for the Pacers with a double down the left line to score Kyle Morin in the seventh inning.
 
Immaculata held the Pacers to just four hits. Ortiz reached three times in three different ways: he had a double, walk and a hits-batsman.
 
Aaron Gutierrez came in relief to throw two innings without an earned run. He allowed one hit and struck out.
