Langhorne, Pa. - The Marywood men's tennis team dropped their 2022-23 season opener today 6-1 to Cairn University. Both teams only had five players, resulting in a match to seven points rather than the usual nine.
Rookie Jack Biggs came away with the lone point of the day for the Pacers, downing Joel Cassel 3-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-5) at #3 singles.
To open the match, Cairn took both doubles matches by a score of 8-3.
In the rest of singles action,
Eddie McGreevy fell at the #1 singles spot 6-4, 6-4.
James Cawley suffered a 6-3, 6-3 setback at #2 singles and Alex Ni dropped his #4 singles match 3-6, 1-6.
In five singles play, Matt Wygonic put up a good showing for the Pacers before falling in three sets 2-6, 6-3, 0-1 (10-12).
Marywood is back on the court next Saturday when they face Muhlenberg at 11:00am in Allentown.
