Scranton, Pa. - Marywood University women's tennis fell to 1-4 on the year after the Pacers fell to SUNY Cortland 8-1 on a chilly and windy Friday afternoon in Scranton.
The Red Dragons improve to 3-1 with the victory.
Allison Bashore and Gabriella Nowak got a win at one-doubles (8-6) over Cortland's Abby Madigan and Vyda van Denburg but from there it was all Cortland. The Red Dragons won at two-doubles (8-5) and three-doubles (8-4) to take a 2-1 lead into singles action.
There, a couple matches went to a third-set super tiebreaker, but Marywood could not gain any more points. Nowak fell 6-3, 1-6, 0-1 (4-10) to Logan Strety at two-singles and McKenna Seavy fell to Karlie Cubino 4-6, 7-5, 0-1 (7-10) at four-singles.
Marywood hosts Division II East Stroudburg University Saturday at 11:00 am.
