Fuchs Lifts Pacers over Hood with 76th Minute Goal

Niko Leibkuchler finishes with an assist and five saves for first win

Scranton, Pa. — A double-assisted Richard Fuchs goal settled a tight match and propelled Marywood University to a 2-1 win over Hood College on Wednesday evening. The victory pushed the Pacers to a 4-5 record on the men's soccer season.

In the 76th minute, goalkeeper Niko Leibkuchler delivered a free kick to midfielder. Kyle Falcon pushed the ball forward at the midfield, and Fuchs drilled it into the left corner for his third goal of the season.

Marywood came back from an early deficit with two consecutive goals.

Less than two minutes before halftime, Chris Salisbury evened the goal. Jordan Pattavina-Arroyo played a ball through from the midfield. Salisbury beat the goalkeeper to the left side of the net for his first tally of the year.

Hood went ahead 1-0 in the 23rd minute. On a ball served by Luke Hammer from the right sideline, Anthony Polio beat the goalkeeper on a 1-v-1 to the left point of the net.

Leibkuchler notched his first career win with five saves. He made a pair of saves in the 72nd and 74th minutes to keep the game even at one apiece.

Hood edged the Pacers in shots (14-12) and shots on target (6-5). The Pacers doubled the Blazers 6-3 in corner kicks.

Marywood heads to Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences on Saturday afternoon.
