Marywood Scores Three Unanswered in Win Over Wilkes

Pacers net first win over Colonels since 2002

Scranton, Pa. - Three different players tallied goals for Marywood University for the second game in a row as the Pacers rallied from an early deficit to defeat Wilkes University 3-1 in non-conference women's soccer. It was the Pacers' first win over the Colonels since the 2002 season.

Marywood (3-5-1) got goals from Brooke Longstreet, Caroline Walters and Josephine Sorce in the win. Sorce also added an assist.

Victoria Tzitzis added an assist for the Pacers on the goal from Walters.

Wilkes (2-6-1) grabbed a 1-0 lead just 1:32 into the game. Riley McGee converted a feed from Celia Diaz after a Marywood defensive miscue.

The Pacers tied the game in the 26th minute as Longstreet headed home a Sorce corner kick into the lower left corner. It was Longstreet's second goal in as many games off corner kick headers from the foot of Sorce.

In the 31st minute of action, Tzitzis' low cross to the front post found the found the foot of Walters, who tucked it home near post to put Marywood up 2-1.

Marywood added one more insurance goal for good measure in the 64th minute as Sorce's floater from 30 yards out snuck under the crossbar.

For the game, Wilkes out-shot Marywood 17-15 and had 11 shots on goal to Marywood's 10. Rebekah Becker made a game-high 10 saves in the win.

Marywood hosts Cazenovia College Sunday at 1:00 pm for senior day.
