Women's Soccer Blanks Griffins to Extend Shutout, Winning Streaks

Elash has kept opponents scoreless for 284 minutes, 7 seconds

Scranton, Pa. — Marywood University notched its third consecutive shutout in a 3-0 win over Gwynedd Mercy University on Wednesday in Atlantic East Conference women's soccer action. The Pacers have won three consecutive games in conference play.

Marywood (7-5-2, 3-0-1) has not lost in 18 consecutive Atlantic East contests, dating back to Oct. 23, 2019.

Riley Mulherin finished with a goal and an assist.

In the 12th minute, Kate Kollar-Dye put the Pacers ahead with a goal. On a corner kick, Josephine Sorce expertly placed a ball into empty real estate in the right side the box. Kollar-Dye connected from 14 yards with her right foot to take the lead.

Six minutes later, Isabel Shore shelved a rebound opportunity. Mulherin laced a ball from 25 yards out that was stopped by the Gwynedd Mercy keeper. Shore rushed in from the left side of the box to connect from 16 yards away.

Mulherin scored for the eighth time in nine games in the 68th minute to secure the win. On a ball played through from the center midfield by Carly Walters, Mulherin muscled past the center-back to create a one-on-one situation, scoring from 12 yards to find the left side of the net.

Marywood outshot Gwynedd Mercy by a 29-1 margin with a 15-1 advantage in shots on goal. Both teams had a team save by a defender on the back line. The Pacers had a 8-1 favor in corner kicks.

Mila Elash had her third consecutive clean sheet. She has kept opponents scoreless for the past 284 minutes, 7 seconds.

The Pacers head to Arlington, Va. to take on Marymount University on Saturday.
