Scranton, Pa. — Marywood University advanced to the Atlantic East Conference volleyball semifinals with a 3-1 win over Centenary University in the first round. The fourth-seeded Pacers will travel to top-ranked Marymount University.
Marywood responded with a first set setback by taking the final three sets. The Pacers prevailed by scores of 11-25, 25-16, 25-17, 25-12.
Rebecca Klemovitch finished with 10 kills and a .250 attack percentage. She totaled two solo blocks and two block assists for a match-high 13 points.
Casey Hagerstrom continued her run of offensive production with eight kills, one error and a .318 attack percentage.
Mikayla Meek and
Libby Smith both factored with seven kills. Meek added four aces and nine assists.
Gianna Norton added to her conference-leading defensive totals with 15 digs.
Jaedyn Laws produced a double-double of 22 assists and 11 digs.
Donna Bostjancic had nine digs.
In the first set, Centenary won 11 consecutive points to close the set.
Tied a 8-8, Marywood won seven-straight points on
Ashley Humer serves. Laws had two aces to that helped Marywood take a 20-10 lead. Hagerstrom closed out the set with a kill.
In the third set, Marywood trailed 10-8.
Autumn Savitski turned the tabled with a kill. Humer's serves allowed the Pacers to take an 11-10 lead with an ace. Marywood outscored the Cyclones 13-3, taking a 21-13 lead on a Smith ace. Hagerstrom closed the set with a kill.
Centenary led in the fourth set by a 6-4 score. The Pacers won 14 consecutive points on Meek serves.
Jenny Thistlethwaite had nine kills with a .318 attack percentage. Asia Logan totaled 17 digs.
