Pacers Trounce Knights, 18-2

Scranton, Pa. — Avery Meighan and Kaitlyn Smith each tallied four goals and one assist to push Marywood University past Mount Saint Mary's College (N.Y.) in a 18-2 win Tuesday night in women's lacrosse. Marywood won 21 of 22 draw controls for the game.

Kayla McCabe finished with a hat trick and six assists. McCabe enters the record book tied for first with assists in a single game.

The Pacers had a strong start to the game with 11 unanswered goals. Smith had the first goal of the game three minutes in, followed by Meighan to give the Pacers a 2-0 lead.

Natalie Yilanjian had back-to-back goals with assists from McCabe and Matarazzo respectively. Alaina Brenneman broke up the scoring with a goal from one of McCabe's assists.

Smith added back to back goals to have a 7-0 lead over the Knights. With nine seconds left in the first half, McCabe added her first goal of the game.

Seven minutes into the third quarter, Emily Ward found the back of the net to get the Knights on the board. McCabe responded quickly to earn her second goal of the game. The Pacers had a strong 13-1 lead over the Knights to end the third quarter.

Meighan and McCabe each added another goal in the beginning of the fourth to extend their lead to 15-1. Olivia Stollsteimer scored on a woman up opportunity off an assist from McCabe. Just two minutes later, the same duo added another goal and assist respectively.

Antonia Licardi added her first of the game just 15 seconds left in regulation.

Meighan and Smith also contributed nine and eight draw controls respectively. Emma Solomon and Stollsteimer each added two goals and one assist a piece. 

Yilanjian tallied two goals, while teammate Brenneman added one goal. 

The Pacers led the Knights to a 47-10 margin in shots, 28-18 in ground balls, and 21-1 in draw controls.

The Pacers will face Curry College in sunny Florida on Tuesday during the Spring Break Trip.
