Men's Lacrosse Falls to Gwynedd Mercy in AEC Play

Scranton, Pa. — The Marywood University men's lacrosse slips to 1-2 in conference play after a 10-8 loss against Gwynedd Mercy Wednesday. John Scibello led the Pacers with three goals and one assist.

Aiden Kilkenny tallied two goals, one assist, and five ground balls. Ben Pizzarello contributed two goals.

The Pacers struck first five minutes into regulation from an unassisted goal from Dillon Kane. Kane's goal would mount to be the Pacers first and only lead of the game. The Griffins quickly with goals from Dominic Romania and Jason Eide. Kilkenny added his first off an assist from Dalton Metzger to notch the game at two a piece to finish the first quarter. 

Gwynedd Mercy outscored Marywood in the second quarter by a 4-2 margin. The Griffins scored twice to put them ahead by two. Scibello tallied a goal off an assist from Kane to cut the deficit to one. With five minutes left, Ian Kish tallied an unassisted goal to give the Griffins a 5-3 lead. The Kane to Scibello duo attacked again to cut the deficit. Pizzarello scored about one minute later to tie the game five a piece. With 38 seconds left in the first half, Justin Carney found his second of the game to put the Griffins ahead once more. 

The third quarter was even at scoring, both teams adding two. The Griffins added back-to-back goals, followed by the Pacers back-to-back goals. Pizarello and Scibello contributed to the third quarter scoring, but Marywood trailed 8-7 entering the final quarter.

The Pacers were outscored by a 2-1 margin by the Griffins. Kilkenny tallied the final goal for the Pacers off an assist from Matt Manna.

Kane contributed one goal and two assists. Metzger tallied two assists, while Manna finished with one. 

Nick Ericson won 19 faceoffs. Colin Trainor made 17 saves in goal.

The Pacers will travel to Marymount University Saturday.
