Men's Tennis Battles Neumann, Falls Short in Third Sets

Aston, Pa. - The Marywood University men's tennis team was defeated by conference rival Neumann University in Sunday's away match. The final score was 5-4.

In doubles play, Marywood was successful in the #1 and #2 matches. Eddie McGreevy and David Chemidlin edged out an 8-6 win in the top flight, and James Cawley and Jack Biggs cruised for an 8-1 win.

In singles action, McGreevy (6-3, 6-1) and Chemidlin (6-4, 4-6, 7-5) were victorious in the top two flights. 

The match came down to three singles matches that went to three sets. Neumann took two of the three. The Knights' Anthony Carpinella won No. 4 singles 7-5, 6-7 (5), 6-3; and Logan Gorbitz took No. 5 singles by a 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 score.  

Marywood looks to wrap up its conference schedule in the regular season on Monday, April 17 against Immaculata University. The match will decide the #3 and #4 seeds for the Atlantic East Conference Men's Tennis playoffs.
