Meighan Leads Pacers to Win Over Immaculata

Scranton, Pa. — The Marywood women's lacrosse team sealed the No. 2 seed in the Atlantic East Conference playoffs with a 19-12 defeat of Immaculata University on Wednesday. Avery Meighan led the Pacers with eight goals, two assists, and 11 draw controls.

Kaitlyn Smith tallied six goals, five assists, and 11 draw controls.

The Pacers had an early 3-0 lead at the start of the regulation. Meighan scored three straight to put the Pacers ahead. Immaculata responded with five straight to gain a 5-3 lead at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, the Pacers outscored the Mighty Macs by a 8-3 margin. Meighan tallied her fourth on an assist from Alaina Brenneman to cut the lead to one goal. Olivia Stollsteimer scored off an assist from Meighan to tie the game at five. Jacki Murray responded with her second of the game to put the Mighty Macs ahead once more, which would mount to be the final lead of the Mighty Macs. Smith scored unassisted to notch the game at six. Natalie Yilanjian found the back of the net for her first of the night and to regain the lead. Smith tacked on back-to-back goals to increase the Pacers' lead by three. Emma Solomon and Meighan each tallied one more goal before the Mighty Macs broke up the scoring. Murray and Liza Laxton closed out the first half with a goal each.

Stollsteimer opened up the third quarter on an assist from Smith, followed by Meighan just seconds later. Murray found the back of the net to cut the lead to just four goals. Solomon found her second of the night to put the Pacers up, but Immaculata's Ava Hoffman responded quickly. Meighan tallied her seventh of the night on a woman-up opportunity. Smith closed out the third quarter with back-to-back goals to give the Pacers a comfortable 17-10 lead.

Meighan found her eighth of the night off an assist from Lauren Matarazzo. Murray quickly contributed back-to-back goals to cut the deficit down. Smith rounded out the scoring for both teams on a goal assisted by Meighan.

Solomon finished with two goals and one assist, while Stollsteimer tallied two goals. 

Yilanjian contributed one goal, while Brenneman and Matarazzo each tallied one assist.

The Pacers will travel to Neumann for the final regular season game.
