Pacers Finish Runner Up in Atlantic East Conference Championship

Radnor, Pa. — The Marywood women's lacrosse team fell 15-9 to No. 1 Cabrini University in the Atlantic East Conference Championship on Saturday. The Pacers finished runner-up for the second time in Atlantic East play and the sixth time overall.

Natalie Yilanjian led the Pacers with four goals and one assist. Emma Solomon contributed two goals and one assist. 

The Cavaliers took an early 1-0 lead just 15 seconds in as Shea Neary capitalized on a free position shot. Just seven minutes later, Solomon was able to tally the equalizer on a free position. Yilanjian was dealt a free position opportunity and was able to put the Pacers ahead. Yilanjian found Lauren Matarazzo who was able to collect a goal. Cabrini's Olivia Little broke up the Pacers' scoring to cut the lead to one. With three minutes left in the first quarter, Avery Meighan tallied her contribution to give the Pacers a 4-2 lead over reigning conference champions. Neary was able to capitalize on a woman-down opportunity to trail by one. 

The Cavaliers had a five goal run on the Pacers in the second quarter to lead 8-4 entering half time. Neary contributed two goals, while Cassidy Starner, Marissa Mullan, and Little each contributed one a piece. 

Olivia Pace collected her first of the game, just 30 seconds into the second half. Little put the Cavaliers into double digits to lead the Pacers 10-6. Meighan found Yilanjian to break up the Cavalier scoring to trail by five. Pace quickly responded with her second of the game to end the third quarter.

On a woman-up opportunity, Little found the back of the net, but Yilanjian responded quickly. In the third minute of the final quarter, Little tacked on her final goal of the game before Kaitlyn Smith found her first of the game. Pace scored off of a Neary assist to give the Cavaliers a seven goal lead. Just seconds later, Yilanjian tallied her fourth of the game. Morgan McClintock made her contribution with five minutes left in regulation. Solomon closed out the scoring for both teams on a woman-up opportunity. 

Meighan finished with one goal and one assist, while Smith and Matarazzo tallied one goal each. 

Emily Dyminski had 17 saves in the loss.
