Volleyball Downed by Wolves, Golden Wolves

Scranton, Pa. - Marywood University lost a pair of three-set matches to the Keuka Wolves and Alvernia Golden Wolves on Saturday in its first home volleyball tri-match of the season. Keuka defeated Alvernia in five sets of the neutral site match.

Keuka 3, Marywood 0

The Pacers lost three close sets to the Wolves by scores of 25-18, 25-23, 25-23. The Wolves took advantage of a 14-8 advantage in aces. 

Gianna Norton had four aces and 15 digs. Mikayla Meek finished with 11 digs and 17 assists. Jaedyn Laws was a dig shy of a double-double with 11 assists and nine digs. 

Autumn Savitski led the Pacers offensively with seven kills, no errors and a .368 attack percentage. Casey Hagerstrom matched her with seven kills and a .211 attack percentage. 

In the third set, Keuka went on a seven-point run to take a 17-10 lead. Trailing 20-15, the Pacers scored eight straight points on Meek serves. 

Meek had the game-tying and go-ahead points on back-to-back aces. Savitski had a kill to take a 23-20 lead. The Wolves responded with five straight points to notch the win, thanks to three Kendra Waltz aces. 

Marywood shot .160 for the match to the Wolves' .182. 

Keuka (7-3) had 11 kills from Cameron Knapp. 

Alvernia 3, Marywood 0

The Golden Wolves prevailed by scores of 25-22, 25-19, 25-14. 

Gianna Norton had 12 digs. Jaedyn Laws and Mikayla Meeks logged 11 assists. 

Offensively, Casey Hagerstrom and Meek had six kills apiece. 

Marywood looks to end a five-match losing streak Tuesday at SUNY Delhi. The Pacers have won three straight against their green-and-gold equine counterparts.
