Women's Golf, Men's Cross Country Capture Atlantic East Team Academic Awards

Atlantic East champion men's cross country team repeats award

Lancaster, Pa. - Marywood University captured two Atlantic East Conference Team Academic Awards for the Fall 2023 season, officials announced Wednesday. Both the Pacers' women's golf and the men's cross country teams earned the award.
  The Team Academic honor is awarded to the institution's team that had the top GPA in its respective sport through the semester(s) it played in.

The Marywood men's cross country team won the award for the second consecutive season with a 3.32 GPA. The Pacers won its fifth consecutive Atlantic East championship this season. 

Marywood's women's golf squad recorded the top team GPA in the conference with a 3.75. The Pacers' earned their second Atlantic East Team Academic Award, winning the award previously in 2021. 

Since the honor began during the 2013-14 academic year, Marywood has won 49 conference team academic awards. The Pacers have an Atlantic East-leading 26 Team Academic Awards since its inception, leading Immaculata (25), Gwynedd Mercy (18), Marymount (13), Neumann (11), Cabrini (10), Centenary (3), Cedar Crest (2) and Wesley (1). 

The GPA is calculated for each season as follows:
  • Fall Season Teams (WSOC, MSOC, WVB, FH, WXC, MXC, WGOLF): Fall Semester Grades
  • Winter Season Teams (WBB, MBB, WSWIM, MSWIM): Cumulative of Fall and Spring Semester Grades
  • Spring Season Teams (MLAX, WLAX, BB, SB, MGOLF, MT&F, WT&F, MTEN, WTEN, MVB): Spring Semester Grades
The Cavaliers earned the third straight recognition for the field hockey team. Cabrini also finished with top honors in women's soccer. Centenary, Immaculata, and Neumann each recieved one fall honor. 

The Winter and Spring Team Academic awards will be announced following the Spring semester.

  • Women's Soccer: Cabrini, 3.61 GPA
  • Women's Volleyball: Neumann, 3.61 GPA
