Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - Marywood University continued its winning streak on Wednesday evening with a 79-69 win over Gwynedd Mercy Wednesday in Atlantic East Conference women's basketball. The win improves its overall record to 8-10 (2-3 AEC), as the Griffins fall to 7-12 overall (0-5 AEC).
It marks the Pacers' first win at Gwynedd Mercy in the Atlantic East era.
Mia Blume led the charge for Marywood, as she dropped 21 points in the game, while shooting 6-10 (60%) from the floor and 5-7 (71.4%) from three point range.
Stephanie Klemick (16 points, 8-14),
Alli Griscavage (13 points, 5-8), and
Rachel McDonald (11 points, 3-11) were all in double figures for the Pacers as well.
In addition to her 13 points, Griscavage led Marywood in rebounds with 13, recording her fourth double-double on the season.
The Pacers were dominant the entire length of the game, outscoring the Griffins in all but one quarter.
After taking a five point lead into the half (36-31), Gwynedd Mercy was able to creep back into the game, winning the third quarter.
After allowing the Griffins to come within one point, the Pacers re-took control of the match, scoring four unanswered to open the final quarter. Marywood outscored Gwynedd Mercy by nine in the fourth, catapulting them to a ten point victory on the night.
In a fantastic shooting performance, the Pacers made almost half of their shots, shooting 27-59 (45.8%) overall from the floor. This was complimented by a 9-24 (37.5%) clip from behind the arc and 16-21 (76.2%) from the charity stripe.
The Pacers dominated the boards, out-rebounding the Griffins 48-31.
Shelby Ardo-Boyko helped create ample opportunities for the Pacer offense, as she led the team in assists with four.
Gwynedd Mercy was led offensively by Lynzie Eggers, who put up 23 points on 10-23 (43.5%) shooting.
The Griffins, as a team, shot 24-64 (37.5%) in total, going 7-27 (25.9%) from three and 14-22 (63.6%) from the free-throw line.
The Pacers will look to extend the winning streak to three games, as they host the Marymount University Saints on Saturday.
