Marywood Ends Season with a Win Over Marymount, Splits on the Day

First time in program history beating the Saints

Tysons, Va. — The Marywood University baseball team took on Marymount in a double header Saturday. The Pacers walked away with their first ever win over the Saints in a dominant 12-4 win. They dropped game one in a close 2-1 battle. 

Game Two: Marywood 12, Marymount 4

Ayers had a big game at the plate recording three hits and three RBIs. 

Marymount jumped ahead early, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first. 

Ayers homered in the third to tie the game, 2-2. 

Marywood scored three runs in the top of the fourth with a sacrifice fly from Joe Yannelli, a reach on error from Michak, and a bases loaded walk from Ginsberg. 

The Pacers scored another run in the fifth with an RBI double from Yannelli. 

The Saints had a two-run single in the sixth making the score, 6-4. 

Marywood had a rally in the seventh scoring five runs. 

Yannelli hit his second double of the day, bringing in Giannetti and Max Slusser. Michak hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Cameron Kohut. Then, Ayers hit an RBI single. Tristan Gatchalain ripped an RBI double giving the Pacers a 11-4 lead. 

James Daly plated the Pacers twelfth run on a sacrifice fly. 

Michael Aronica (3-4) earned the win for Marywood. He pitched seven innings allowing seven hits, four earned runs, and two walks. He sat down five. 

Joseph Bruno and Danny Becker threw a collective two innings, neither allowed a hit. Becker struck out one. 

Game One: Marywood 1, Marymount 2

Each side was held scoreless through three innings. 

In the top of the fourth, Christian Michak put the first run on the board and it's a single through the left side, plating AJ Giannetti

The Saints gained the lead in the fifth with a two-run homerun. 

Marywood outhit Marymount, having twelve hits.

Joel Ayers, Adam Ginsberg, Vinny D'Auria, and Nick Ruiz all had two hits a piece. 

Nick Notari falls to 4-5 on the season. In five innings of work he surrendered five hits, two earned runs, and three walks. He struck out two. 

Austin Bausman pitched one inning in relief and allowed just a hit and a walk. 

The Pacers won 22 games this season, tied for most in a single-season (2022 and 2012). 

Marywood ends the season with seven conference wins, their most since joining the Atlantic East.
