Women's Soccer Levels with Knights, 1-1

Rylee Alston scores second goal of the season

Scranton, Pa. -- Marywood University tied Mount St. Mary College (N.Y.) 1-1 Wednesday in non-conference women's soccer action. A late Knights goal was enough to force the Pacers' first draw of the season.

Rylee Alston scored the lone goal for the Pacers. Caroline Walters had an assist.

The Knights' Kaelyn Greene hit a set piece in the 86th minute. Greene converted a 25-yard free kick into the far right side of the frame for her first career goal.

Marywood took a 1-0 advantage in the 54th minute. Walters used her speed to get around a defender. She hit a left-footed cross from the base line to Alston. The LeMoyne transfer one-timed a shot from 9 yards out for her second goal of the campaign.

Marywood (3-1-1) doubled the Knights in shots (14-7) with a 6-4 edge in shots on target. The Pacers blanked the Knights 5-0 in corner kicks.

Genevieve Morrison and Jenna Orr each had one save in 45 minutes of work for the Pacers. Mount St. Mary's Christina Kakavas had five stops.

Both teams largely played between the 18s until the 41st minute. Walters rifled a shot to the top-right that was stopped by Kakavas. The Knights played a quick transition leading to Grace Morra's shot off the left post. Delisianna Naccarato gained possession and turned on a defender. Naccarato delivered a shot that registered as a team save, stopped by defender Britlyn Higgins in front of the goal line.

Morrison kept the game tied with a shot on Kaitlin Hansen in the 87th minute.

Marywood heads to Stockton University on Saturday at noon. Tickets to the match in Galloway, N.J. are $10 at the gate.
