Pacers Pick Up First Conference Win of the Season

Ciullo collects her fifth double-double

Gwynedd Valley, Pa. — Marywood University pulled out a 63-54 victory over Gwynedd Mercy University on Wednesday to earn its first Atlantic East Conference women's basketball victory of the season. 

Marywood came back from a 31-29 deficit at halftime. 

The comeback was bolstered by a dominant performance from Olivia Ciullo who recorded a double-double. Ciullo led all scorers with 20 (7-14) points, while also pulling down a game-leading 12 rebounds. 

Mia Blume recorded 14 points and Megan Cavoli added 10 of her own. 

The Pacers were able to even it up after the third quarter, and then pull away for good in the 4th quarter. The Pacers outscored the Griffins in the last stanza. 

As a team, the Pacers shot 25-52 (48.1%) in total, while going 5-19 (26.3%) from three and 8-9 (88.9%) from the free-throw line. 

The Griffins did not fare quite as well, shooting 20-62 (32.3%) as a team, 5-24 (20.8%) from beyond the arc, and 9-14 (64.3%) from the line. 

Kailyn Bell and Erin Eisenhart recorded 13 points a piece for Gwynedd Mercy.  

The victory is the first in conference play for Marywood this season. 

The Pacers will look to grab another conference win on Saturday, as they travel down to Marymount University.
