Bittenbender Sinks Colonels with Late Goal

Edwardsville, Pa. -- Marywood University women's soccer won its seventh straight game in a shootout win. The Pacers beat out Wilkes University in a 4-3 victory on the road. 

Marywood won for the second straight year over the Colonels. 

The Pacers (10-1) came back from a two-goal deficit. Wilkes scored two goals from Sarah Straup and Jess Shea -- both assisted by Erin Edwards -- in the opening 17 minutes. 

Less than three minutes after the Colonels went ahead by two, Bryn Stiles scored an unassisted goal. Marywood tied the game on an own goal in the 38th minute. 

Carly Walters gave Marywood a 3-2 lead with an unassisted goal in the 57th minute. 

In the 76th minute, Hannah Dennison scored an equalizer for Wilkes on an assist by Taylor Anthony. 

Riley Bittenbender netted the game-winning goal in the 83rd minute. 

The Pacers edged the Colonels 12-11 in shots and 6-5 in shots on goal. Marywood had seven corner kicks to the Colonels' three. 

Genevieve Morrison had a pair of saves to earn the win. Delaney Yaracs stopped three shots for the Colonels. 

Marywood is off to its best start through its first 10 games in program history. 

The Pacers host Neumann University Saturday at 3 p.m.
