Marywood Falls to DeSales, 4-3

Pacers score three goals in the first half

Scranton, Pa. — The Marywood University field hockey team fell 4-3 to the DeSales University Bulldogs (4-7) on Saturday afternoon. 

Prior to the game, Marywood field hockey recognized seniors Phaedra Day, Lianna Horner, Dariane Jones, and Jordan Saybe

The Pacers came out strong, scoring in the third minute off the stick of Jones. 

Marywood's second goal came in the 26th minute when Whitney Berge connected with Brooke Barwick

Olivia Seidel scored the third Pacers goal in the 28th minute, giving Marywood a 3-0 lead into halftime. 

The second half was all Bulldogs. 

In the third period, DeSales scored three goals to even it up with the Pacers. 

Megan McLain scored the game winner for the Bulldogs in the 53rd minute. 

DeSales out-shot the Pacers, 19-18, while both teams had 13 shots on goal. 

Marywood had nine penalty corners compared to the Bulldogs' six. 

All three Pacers' goalkeepers saw action in today's game. 

Horner started in the cage for the Pacers, tallying a save. 

Sabrina Frazer made five saves while allowing four goals. 

Bre Marchiano was in the cage for the final eight minutes of the game, recording two saves.  

Liv Rosengrant had a defensive save. 

DeSales had Alyssa Schlossman and Lily Trocki split time in the cage. 

Schlossman allowed three goals and made eight saves. 

Trocki had two saves and recorded the win. 

The Pacers (5-6) will look to rebound Tuesday night against Misericordia.
