Men's Tennis Ends Seven-Match Skid Versus Monarchs

Marywood beats King's for the first time since 2012-13

Scranton, Pa. — Marywood University men's tennis went back into the win column with a 7-0 shutout over King's College on Tuesday. The Pacers defeated the Monarchs for the first time since 2012-13, ending a seven-game losing streak in the series history. 

Gavin Gagliardi shut out his opponent in the top singles flight. Alex Corcoran won No. 2 singles by 7-5, 6-1 scores. 

Zane Smoker won 6-0, 6-0 in the third singles. Isaac Carpenter won 6-3, 6-3 in the fourth. 

In the fifth, Fred Kloss hung on for a 7-5, 4-6 [10-7] win. Aidan Brunner won 6-0, 6-3 in the No. 6 singles. 

The Pacers won all three doubles matches. Corcoran and Gagliardi won 6-0 in the top flight. Carpenter and Smoker had a 6-2 win in No. 2 doubles. 

Kloss and Jack Biggs held on to a 7-5 win in the third doubles. 

Marywood takes on Bard College on Tuesday, Oct. 14.
