Pacers Oust Monarchs in Series' Fourth-Straight Overtime Game

Marywood has won three of the past four games against King's

Wilkes-Barre, Pa. - Future MAC Freedom opponents Marywood University and King's College went to overtime for the fourth consecutive time on Saturday. The Pacers prevailed over the Monarchs 101-98 in double overtime. 

Trailing by one, Noah Perry made a floating jump shot with 41 seconds to take a 99-98 lead. After King's turned the ball over, Michel Loftin made a pair of free throws with 12 seconds remaining to seal the victory. 

Noah Perry scored a career-high 20 points off the bench. Perry came off the bench to shoot 8 for 11 for a .727 clip. It is the second straight game in double figures for Perry. 

Marywood had six players in double figures on the score sheet. Loftin had an all-around performance with 18 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and four steals.

Andrew Quinn made half of his shots for 14 points. Collin Himmelberg posted 15 points. Joe Macciocco and Ty Cheney had 12 and 10 points, respectively. 

Both Shilo Bivins and Quinn finished with five assists. 

Both teams had similar shooting performances. Marywood shot 48.8 percent from the field to the Monarchs' 48 percent. The Pacers edged the Monarchs 42-39 in rebounds. Both teams had 24 assists. 

Neither team led by more than five points in the opening half. King's took a nine-point lead on Matt Christian's 3-pointer at the 13:12 mark. 

Trailing by eight, Marywood shaved the Monarchs' lead, tying the game at 75-75 on Quinn's pair of free throws. The Pacers took a 83-81 lead when Perry swished a 3-pointer with 45 seconds left. King's Ben Rodner-Tims knocked in a jump shot with 32 seconds left to send the series to its fourth straight overtime. 

Himmelberg made a layup off a Perry assist with 19 seconds that was tying points in the first overtime period.

Marywood improves to 5-1 overall. 

The Pacers will welcome Messiah University on Wednesday.
