Men's Basketball Tripped by Knights

Marywood posts five players in double figures

Scranton, Pa. — Marywood University suffered a 92-81 loss to Neumann University on Saturday in Atlantic East Conference basketball action. The Pacers had five players reach double figures in scoring. 

Marywood honored the 1999-2000 men's basketball team at halftime. Led by coach Doug Kraft, the Pacers were the first team to reach a conference postseason tournament. 

Brendan Franko scored 19 points to lead the Pacers. It marked Franko's fifth consecutive game with 15-plus points. 

Mason Mendygral finished with 15 points, shooting 6 for 10 from the field. Cole Johnson made two influential second half 3-pointers to add to his 14-point total. 

Michel Loftin and Trevor Seitz each scored 12 points. Loftin added his fifth three-plus steal outing. 

Neumann's Donte Dupriest scored 30 points and 21 rebounds for a double-double. DJ Earl had a 22-point effort with three swipes, and Bryan Etienne scored 21 points and four blocks. Mike Smith III had 10 assists. 

The Knights outrebounded the Pacers by a 44-28 margin. They had a 17-4 advantage in second-chance points. 

Marywood's deep bench kept the Pacers in contention. The Pacers' reserved outscored the Knights 43-21. 

Marywod falls to 11-10 overall with a 3-5 conference mark. Neumann moves to 15-5 overall and 6-1 in conference play. 

The Pacers travel to Gwynedd Mercy University on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
