Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Seitz Drains Game-Winner from Logo to Down Saints

Marywood come back from 10 down in last five minutes to knock off first-place Saints

Scranton, Pa. — Fifth-year Trevor Seitz drained a game-winning, long-range 3-pointer to lift Marywood University men's basketball to a 63-62 win over Marymount University on Saturday. The Pacers' win over the first-place Saints even their record to 12-12 overall and 4-7 in Atlantic East Conference play.

With 17 seconds remaining, Seitz hit a 3-point shot from the center court logo to give the Pacers a 63-62 advantage. The Saints' Marcus Stubbs missed a jump shot in the final seconds, and Seitz collected the game-securing rebound.

Seitz made four 3-pointers to finish with 12 points.

Brendan Franko led the Pacers with 15 points and six rebounds. Cole Johnson had 11 points.

Michel Loftin continued his solid run of strong defensive performances with 11 rebounds to complement an eight-point effort.

Marymount (15-8, 8-2 Atlantic East) was led by Marcus Stubbs' 13 points. Jase Mosley had a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds. Max Pearcy matched him with 10 points.

With one game remaining, the Pacers still have yet to secure a place in the conference playoffs. Marywood stands tied with Centenary University for the final two spots in the postseason tournament. Immaculata University (7-15, 3-8 AEC) stands a game behind both teams heading into the regular season finale at the Insalaco Arena on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.

Following the loss, Marymount slips into a three-way tie for the top playoff spot with Neumann University and Gwynedd Mercy University.

Marymount went on a nine-point run thanks to three consecutive 3-pointers. Stubbs' long-range bucket gave the Saints a 58-48 lead with 6:06 remaining. Franko responded with a 3-pointer of his own from Brendan Reed, and Reuben McEachern responded with a layup to go ahead by nine.

Over the course of the next five minutes, Marywood went on a nine-point run to even the score. On the next possession following a Seitz 3-pointer, Franko was fouled when collecting an offensive board. He made both ends of a trip to the free-throw line to square the score at 60-60 with 1:40 left.

McEachern made two free throws to reclaim the lead 62-60 with 93 seconds left. A unfruitful Pacers' possession gave way to a giveaway caused by a Franko steal.

Marymount opened the game with a 17-6 lead in the opening four minutes.

Seitz's game-winning 3-pointer was the Pacers' only lead of the game.

The Pacers out-rebounded the Saints by a 39-31 margin. Marymount outshot Marywood 42.6 percent to 38.5 percent. Both teams were under 60 percent from the charity stripe.

Marywood honored graduating players Franko, Johnson, Reed, Mason Mendygral, Zach Hoffman, Corey Perkins, and Seitz.

Marywood hosts Immaculata on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
