Despite Strong Comeback, Pacers Fall to Lycoming

Smith collects eight points

Williamsport, Pa. - The Marywood University Pacers traveled to Williamsport to take on the Lycoming Warriors Saturday afternoon. The Pacers would come up just short, falling 16-14. 

Kaitlyn Smith led the team with eight points. 

Smith and Natalie Yilanjian led the Pacers, scoring four goals apiece. 

The Warriors scored two quick goals in the first period to go up 2-0. 

The Pacers got on the board when Smith connected with Yilanjian, cutting the deficit to 2-1. 

A mere 28 seconds later, Kortney Harry tied it up with another Pacers goal. 

Lycoming would net three unanswered goals to end the period with a 5-2 lead. 

Carly Lynch opened up the second period with a tally to cut the Warriors lead to 5-3. 

Smith collected her second goal of the game shortly after, getting the Pacers within one. Alli Duncan notched the assist. 

Lycoming earned one back to make it a 6-4 game. 

Lynch went on to score her second goal of the game helping the Pacers get within on goal. 

The Warriors then went on a hot streak scoring seven straight goals, giving them a 13-5 lead. 

The Pacers scored their sixth goal off the stick of Yilanjian. 

Felicia Pescatore netted her first goal of the season with 1:58 left in the third period. Smith collected the assist. 

This was followed by three more unanswered goals from the Pacers, 
as Smith scored twice and Yilanjian once, cutting the lead to 14-10. 

Lycoming would go on to score two more. 

The Pacers tried for a late comeback with goals from Jessica Banta, Smith, and Yilanjian but fell just short, 16-13. 

Jenna Scala was in goal for the Pacers, recording six saves in the loss. 

Marywood out-shot the Warriors, 34-27. 

The Pacers look forward to Wednesday when they travel to Annville for a match against Lebanon Valley.
