Marywood Drops Both Games on Day Two in Florida

Winter Haven, Fla. — The Marywood University softball team continued spring break action in the sunshine state Tuesday morning. The Pacers took on Lakeland University game one and Thomas College game two. The Pacers went on to drop both games by scores of 3-0 and 10-2. 

Game 1: Marywood 0, Lakeland 3

The Pacers were shutout by the Muskies, 3-0. 

Renee McDonald led the Pacers offensively collecting two of the Pacers' four hits. 

Lakeland got on the board in the first inning. The Muskies had back-to-back singles followed by a sacrifice bunt. A ground out to second base plated the first run. 

Marywood gave up two more runs in the top of the sixth. 

Brianna Voyer was in the circle for the Pacers surrendering eight hits, three earned runs, and allowed one walk. She also tallied a strikeout. She now falls to a 1-2 record. 

Game 2: Marywood 2, Thomas 10

The Pacers got on the board first with an RBI groundout from Jessica Hanley, plating Riley Marshall

In the bottom of the third, the Terriers tacked on four runs giving Thomas a 4-1 lead. 

In the top of the fifth, Marywood plated its second run of the game on an error by the Terriers. 

Thomas went on to score six runs between the fifth and sixth innings to win, 10-2. 

Sammi Ferrara started in the circle for Marywood throwing 4.1 innings allowing nine hits, seven runs, six earned runs, and one walk. She struck out two. 

Jessica Plunkett relieved Ferrara pitching 1.1 innings allowing four hits, three runs, two earned runs, and walking two while striking out one. 

The Pacers will continue action on Thursday with games against Earlham College and Carroll University.
